Depression and anxiety are common but often debilitating experiences. Whether anxiety has you stuck in fear and panic, or depression is making you feel sad and hopeless - there is help. Counselling can offer validation, support and strategies to lift your mood, quiet your anxiety and manage your panic. Working collaboratively with a therapist to accept present situations, explore past experiences and practice new skills can lead to increased well being and resilience.
If you are ready to seek help with the disease of addiction you are taking the first step toward healing from the emotional, physical and spiritual pain of dependence on alcohol or drugs. Every person deserves the chance to recover. Addiction can seriously damage your sense of self, relationships and financial security. Counselling can help you to process and heal from past trauma and learn coping strategies for anxiety, emotional regulation, negative thoughts and low self-esteem. Recovery is not just about abstinence – it is a chance to find a spiritual connection and to live fully in your life free from the guilt and shame associated with using.
Trauma therapy can be beneficial for individuals who have experienced a wide range of traumatic events, including childhood trauma, natural disasters, car accidents, physical or sexual assault, violent crime, war or conflict. If you are struggling with the effects of a traumatic experience, trauma therapy can be a valuable tool for healing and recovery.
“Mindfulness means paying attention in a particular way: on purpose, in the present moment, and non-judgmentally. This kind of attention nurtures greater awareness, clarity, and acceptance of the
present-moment reality”.

I am a registered clinical counsellor (RCC). My counselling perspective is strengths-based, trauma-informed and collaborative, concentrating on building a warm and trusting relationship from which to explore the areas of life where you would like to see change. I believe that every person deserves to live a full and joyful life, and that we all sometimes need a little help to get back to our true selves.
I hold a Masters of Counselling Psychology and a Masters of Modern Art & Theory. Additional psychotherapy training in Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR); Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT); Internal Family Systems (IFS); Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT); Narrative Therapy; Gottman Method Couples; Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction; and CBT. I have experience of working with individuals and couples managing a range of mental health concerns such as depression, anxiety, substance abuse, life transitions and chronic pain.
I am originally from England, now happily transplanted to Bowen Island (Nex̱wlélex̱wm). I work part-time at The Orchard Recovery Centre supporting clients as they heal from the disease of addiction. When not working I like to hang out with my family and my dog.
